Project Summary
Leaving Room is a series of paintings about archetypal figures and the spaces they once occupied, with a particular focus on those from the art world. The exhibition is set within a reconstructed art booth styled as a prison cell — a symbol of both mental and circumstantial entrapment.
The title plays on the dual meaning of “leaving” and “living,” suggesting both departure and domesticity. Through objects, portraits, and images within images, the works invite viewers into a layered, analogical narrative.
Originally shown as a unified body of work at Art Jakarta 2024, these pieces are now envisioned as visual anchors for contemplative environments - whether in private homes, hospitality spaces or quiet corners of public life.role:
